Square Dance at the Oregon Country Fair
Saturday, July 12th & Sunday, July 13th
At the OCF Xavanadu Dance Pavilion
Veneta, Oregon
Mud City is at the Oregon Country Fair for the very first time! Ready to Dance? We are so excited to bring one of the oldest forms of American social dance to the Dance Pavilion at Xavanadu in a way that is inclusive to all ages, genders-identities and abilities! Old-time square dancing is taught by the caller, so you don’t need any experience, special clothes or shoes, or even a partner since there will be lots of great people to dance with! All dances featuring gender-free calls and guaranteed fun!
Please visit the Oregon Country Fair website for tickets and info. See you there! https://www.oregoncountryfair.org/
If you can’t make this one but appreciate these community events, please make a donation here. Every little bit helps us to support the bands, callers and our mission.
Our Mission in the Community
Mud City Old-Time Society is dedicated to supporting old-time music and dance in the Southern Willamette Valley. We are a progressive, inclusive community that sponsors concerts, workshops, jams and square dances open to people from any background and experience level. If you are interested in the power of participatory music and social dance, we invite you to come play and dance with us!
Music for Everyone
As a precursor to bluegrass, old-time string band music is acoustic and lively. We host concerts, workshops and a variety of jams that welcome new players just getting started, as well as more experienced players wanting to play more up to speed.
Have a Dance With Us
Our square dances always feature live bands as well as callers who teach everything you need to know on the spot. You don’t need any special clothes or even a partner—there will be plenty of fun folks to dance with. Check out our events to learn more!
